Academic Course Work 2023-2024
Some courses listed in this guide may not actually be offered due to low enrollment. Because of scheduling conflicts and classes closing, a student may not be able to register for every course he/she plans to take during a semester. For this reason, the student should have in mind alternate courses in case the first choice is not available. Please note that all courses will not be offered every semester of every year.
Online Learning Opportunities
Online learning opportunities are offered at our high school campus to provide a setting for students to complete both original credit coursework as well as making up lost credit through the online learning program Edgenuity. Online courses can be taken during the school day in the Learning Lab or outside of the school day. Students must complete all required online assignments with a grade average of 70 or better in a specified time frame to receive credit. Online learning courses may not meet NCAA standards and may not be appropriate for all learners. Please see your counselor for more information.
Original Coursework
It is recommended that students who are taking a course for the first time, take the course in a face-to-face classroom setting. However, for some students who have transferred into our district or have other extenuating circumstances, taking an online course for initial credit may be the best option for the student. Coursework completed for original credit will be assigned a numerical grade and will count in the student’s overall grade point average (GPA) and appear on the student’s transcript.
Credit Recovery Coursework
Students who have not successfully earned credit in the traditional classroom setting are given an opportunity to recoup credits through summer school. If students have not successfully completed the course in summer school, they will have an opportunity to retake the course the following year in the classroom setting. If face-to-face classes are full, then they may take online classes if they are available for the course which cover the content originally delivered in a face-to-face class. Coursework that is completed successfully for credit recovery will receive a grade of P for passing. The P will not be calculated in the GPA, but will appear on the transcript.
