The Bowie ISD Discipline Matrix is a tool BISD Campus Administrators use to appropriately respond when students have committed behavioral infractions, per the Student Code of Conduct. This tool is designed to offer consistency across the district so that students are disciplined appropriately from school to school. This matrix is used when student behavior requires consequences beyond the classroom. All student misbehavior occurring on school property, school transportation, and school events, as well as any area within 300 feet of school property, may receive consequences. The matrix provides progressive disciplinary actions to address multiple behaviors. These consequences may be listed as levels of consequences or as steps that should be taken based on a continued misbehavior. This matrix is a guide for BISD Campus Administrators; however, each administrator has the discretion to deviate from these guidelines when necessary. On these occasions, the administrator must continue assigning fair and appropriate consequences even when they are those other than the ones stated in the matrix. This may be handed down if the administrator determines in his or her sole discretion that there are mitigating or aggravating circumstances. Campus Administrators also have the discretion to consider prior behaviors or incidents or the lack of previous misbehavior as they assign consequences. For behaviors not listed in the chart below, BISD Campus Administrators will refer to the TEA Chapter 37 Discipline Chart and TASB Chapter 37 Discipline Chart.

Each campus has a campus behavior coordinator to apply discipline management techniques, administer consequences for certain student misconduct, and provide a point of contact for student misconduct. The contact information for each campus behavior coordinator is listed below:
