📢 BISD School Board Adopts 2025-2026 Instructional Calendar! 📢 After gathering input from our Calendar Committee, surveying parents and staff, and working closely with administration and school board members, the BISD Board of Trustees has officially adopted the 2025-2026 Instructional Calendar! ✅ 🔹 What’s Staying the Same? ✔️ Monday-Thursday school week remains for consistency ✔️ Minimal changes to keep a familiar routine 🔹 Key Adjustments: 📅 Additional 2,100 minutes are required by the state due to the inability to secure a professional development waiver for the 25-26 school year 🍂 Students will attend Monday & Tuesday before Thanksgiving per the request of the survey 🏈 Traditional Homecoming festivities will occur with a ½ day of school on September 19th 🇺🇸 Majority of stakeholders preferred school on Monday holidays to maintain Friday flexibility ⛈️ Bad weather days are scheduled for April 24th and May 15th if needed Thank you to everyone who provided feedback! Bowie ISD will begin at 10:00 am on Wednesday, February 19th.  Although most roads are clear, there are some slick “black ice” spots throughout the entire district.  Parking lots and sidewalks have some slick spots as well.  This delay will allow buses, staff, and students to have ample time to cautiously arrive at school.  Stay warm!

BISD’s CTE programs were in the spotlight at the recent board meeting, featuring a fantastic presentation by Emma Halfmann, CCMR Coordinator. Board members were treated to a delicious dinner prepared by our talented culinary students, with impeccable flavor and presentation. To top it off, stunning floral arrangements from our floral design classes added the perfect finishing touch. We are incredibly proud of the outstanding programs, dedicated teachers, and hardworking students that make BISD exceptional! #Bowieibuilt

Cyber Safety / Social Media In today’s digital world, children and teens are more connected than ever, making social media an integral part of their lives. While these platforms offer many opportunities for connection and learning, they also pose risks, including cyberbullying. This interactive workshop is designed to educate parents about the realities of cyberbullying and the potential dangers of social media. Together, we will empower families to foster open communication and create a safe, positive online environment for children to thrive. Bowie ISD will hold a public hearing to discuss the 2023-2024 Texas Academic Performance Report beginning at 5:30 pm on Monday, January 20, 2025. This meeting will take place in the Board Room of the Bowie ISD Central Administration Building, 404 East Williams, Bowie, TX. The Texas Academic Performance Report (TAPR) pulls together a wide range of information on the performance of students in each school and district in Texas every year. The annual report also provides extensive information on district financials, school accreditation, progress on performance objectives and goals, and higher education.

Bowie ISD Closure Announcement: Thursday, January 9, 2025 After consulting with surrounding districts and participating in the latest briefing from the National Weather Service, Bowie ISD will be closed on Thursday, January 9, 2025. The forecasted winter precipitation is expected to impact travel across the district. Due to the potential risks and uncertainties regarding road conditions, the district has made the decision to close in the interest of student and staff safety. #Bowiebuilt #Staywarm #safety

As below-freezing temperatures and precipitation are forecasted, Bowie ISD wants to remind families to stay updated on any weather-related announcements. With winter weather in the forecast, Bowie ISD administrators are already closely monitoring conditions, communicating with surrounding districts, and listening to National Weather Service updates to make the best decision possible regarding school schedules. In the event of delays, cancellations, or closures, Bowie ISD will use the district's mass communication system, social media, and local media outlets to communicate. It is important that your email and phone numbers are up to date in the Ascender system. If you have had a change in your email or phone number from what is listed in Ascender, please contact the front office of your child's school to get that information updated. "When will you know?" We understand the importance of providing advance notice to allow families to make alternate arrangements. When changes to the school schedule are necessary, we strive to notify staff and families as quickly as possible through social media and our mass communication system.
