Mrs. Stewart will be joining Bowie Elementary School as a First Grade teacher for the 2025-2026 school year.
We had a few minutes to sit down and talk with Mrs. Stewart and here is what we learned about our new family member.
Where did you attend college and what degrees and/or certificates do you hold?
I attended college at West Texas A&M University where I received my Bachelors Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies
How long have you been in education? I have seven years of experience in education.
Tell us a little about your previous experience. My teaching experience includes three years at the elementary level, followed by four years teaching middle school science.
What would you like to share about your family? My husband, Remy, and I have been married for a little over a year, and we share our home with our two beloved dogs, Domino and Luna.
Would you like to share a fun fact? I'm the youngest of five, night owl by nature, and an amateur dog breed expert.
What do you enjoy outside of work? In my free time, I enjoy reading and listening to audiobooks, and I have a growing collection of houseplants I love -- even if I can't always keep up with them.
Can you tell us why you CHOSE BOWIE? I chose Bowie ISD because of its strong sense of community, commitment to student growth, and supportive learning environment. I felt genuinely welcomed and excited to be part of a team that values both excellence in education and meaningful relationships.

Mrs. Wilson will be joining Bowie Elementary School as a Special Education teacher for the 2025-2026 school year.

Where did you attend college and what degrees and/or certificates do you hold? I attended college at WGU. I received my Bachelors in Educational Studies in Elementary Education. I am currently participating in the iTeach program.
How long have you been in education? I will be going into my fifth year in education.
Tell us a little about your previous experience. 3 years at BES as a Pre-K Paraprofessional and 1 year at BES in Special Education as a Paraprofessional.
What would you like to share about your family? I am married with 5 children, 4 grandchildren, and 2 dogs. My husband graduated from Bowie High School in 1995. Our older children graduated from BHS, and our youngest will graduate in 2034. We enjoy doing things together and having fun.
Would you like to share a fun fact? I love to roller skate.
What do you enjoy outside of work? We enjoy doing things together such as swimming, fishing, golfing, and cooking out.
Can you tell us why you CHOSE BOWIE? I chose BISD because of the people I worked with as a Paraprofessional and because of the caring and dedicated teachers our children have had, and currently have in the district. At Bowie Elementary, your colleagues are your family. People are willing to go above and beyond. BES is a warm, welcoming place for employment and for your child to attend.

📏 What's New?
This year, we’re simplifying skirt and short length expectations using a standard 3x5 index card. The top of the card will be placed at the top of the knee, and garments must extend to the top of the card (approx. 5 inches above the knee).
👕 There are minimal changes to the dress code otherwise, and the full details will be included in the campus-specific handbook addendums to be approved at the July 21, 2025, School Board Meeting. A new state law will impact student cell phone use starting in the 2025–2026 school year.
📜 Texas House Bill 1481, signed by Governor Greg Abbott on June 20, 2025, includes the following key requirements:
⭐ Students may not use cell phones inside school buildings during instructional hours.
⭐ All Texas public school districts and open-enrollment charter schools must adopt and enforce policies to comply.
⭐ This includes devices such as cell phones, smartwatches, tablets, radio devices, paging devices, or any other electronic device capable of telecommunication or digital communication.
📌 Bowie ISD is currently awaiting further guidance from the Texas Education Agency regarding expectations and enforcement procedures.
Last year, BISD implemented several measures to limit cell phone use during instructional time. We are now reviewing how to align this new law with our existing processes.
As we prepare to implement this law, we respectfully request the support and understanding of our community. School districts are responsible for upholding all laws passed by our elected officials. We also ask for your grace and patience as we navigate this transition, and encourage everyone to look for the benefits this change may bring to student learning.

As we prepare for the upcoming 2025-2026 school year, now is the perfect time to review your child’s immunization records.
Texas State Law requires all students to have updated vaccination records or a valid exemption on file before the first day of school.
✔️ If your child is fully vaccinated or has a current exemption (expires every two years) already on file with the school nurse — No action is needed!
❗ If your child needs vaccinations or you have not submitted updated records, we encourage you to take care of this over the summer to avoid any delays in enrollment.
